The Woodlands, TX - October 28, 2007
After debating whether or not a challenge to the status quo in Austin would be neccessary for the 150th District, Ken Petty heeded the call and announced today that he would indeed run for the Texas House.
"Texas is in grave danger, following the lead of our President in Washington and that is a division, not between the Democrats and Republicans but between the haves and have nots, between those that rule and those who are ruled. This is not what our government was meant to be. We are a government of the people, by the people, for the people. It's time we send that message to Austin with the sure hope that Washington has ears that can hear. It is time to say that enough is enough and that there will be no more!"
"I do not intend to be a paper candidate. We have some serious issues that are not being addresses in our legislature not just here in Texas but mirrored across this country. It's time to get mad and do something about it. We've been putting the same party in office. It's now time to give the other party a chance to bring liberty and freedom to a populace that only know repression and subjection to an unjust system," Petty said in a statement posted on the new web site.
Petty, 46, srves as the current publisher of the Public News, a Houston arts and entertainment newspaper that relaunched earlier this year. He is also a skilled webmaster and business consultant. He married the former Mary McIlhenny in 2004, and is the father of three and step-father of four children.

Spring, TX - March 14, 2007
Ken Petty is creating an exploratory committee, the first step toward a possible 2008 bid for the 150th District seat of the Texas House of Representatives.
"During the next couple of months, I will be talking with my family and friends about whether to officially announce a run for the Statehouse," Petty said in a statement posted on the new web site.
"I believe that this area deserves to have a stronger voice in Austin that represents all of the citizens, not just the powerful and connected"
